Yvonne Garrett
Yvonne "Voni" Garrett, 61, has a cross-country life story. She was born in New York and grew up in Los Angeles, and now she lives in Columbia, Tenn. with her husband, Charles Garrett, who is also a Silver Stars finalist. Voni has four children and 11 grandchildren. She is retired after 29 years as a General Motors employee.

Besides music, Voni's interests include fashion, art, and people. That love for people and long experience with the public through her music has led Voni to some important realizations. "Treat people the way you want to be treated, demand respect, and give that same respect," she says. "I've learned from dealing with the public that you never know what a person is going through at the moment they walk through your door. A kind word, a smile may just make their day and save their life, so have an open heart and a listening ear."
