Leah Bowes

Leah Bowes, “60-plus,” is a prolific musician. She received early training at Settlement Music School in Philadelphia and then graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music. Leah was a Fulbright Scholar and studied with Mme. Yvonne Lefebure in Paris, France. At the age of 10, Leah performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra. She has since been a soloist with many prominent symphony orchestras, and she has given recitals and been an instrumental and vocal coach and chamber music performer at locations around the world.

Leah continues to perform regularly, although she admits she has tried – unsuccessfully – to retire. She currently performs with Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music faculty, the Blair String Quartet, and members of the Nashville Symphony. She also can often be heard on the “Live in Studio C” series on WPLN-FM radio.

Leah and her husband, Reginald, have been married for 24 years. She has two children and three grandchildren. Besides her musical pursuits, Leah enjoys canning and making fresh salsa; in fact, she has developed a reputation as the “Pickle Lady.” She also enjoys reading, when she has the time.
