J.J. Jones


J.J. Jones, 68, has a storied musical background. He played electric bass and rhythm guitar for eight music stars over 20 years, including for Hank Williams and Crystal Gayle. J.J. was born in Philadelphia, raised in North Carolina, and has lived in Nashville since 1972. He is a Navy veteran, having served for 12 years, including three tours in Vietnam. In the 80s and 90s, J.J.’s military and musical experiences overlapped for 5 USO tours, when he performed as a Charlie Pride impersonator.

J.J. is also a newlywed. He and his wife, Loretta, were just married in August. J.J. is retired, but he still works a bit on the side and serves as a driver for American Legion, providing transportation to the hospital for veterans.

One other note about J.J.: He handmade his entire performance wardrobe himself! He says he sews all his own clothes in order to be dressed like a star.
