HealthSpring, one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing Medicare coordinated care plans, introduced Silver Stars as an opportunity for adults 60+ to share their talents. On Saturday, October 4, ten Silver Stars finalists competed at the Ryman Auditorium for the $5,000 first prize in front of an enthusiastic audience of nearly 1,400. After a thrilling show of crowd-pleasing performances, the judges made their decisions and the three winners were announced.

First place, $5,000:
Thomas Maupin, buck dancer - Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Second place, $2,000:
Jeannie Gleaves, pianist - Nashville, Tenn.

Third place, $500:
Uncle Doc Wilhite, banjo player/singer - Calhoun, Ky. 


The finals were full of great moments as the performers shared their stories and exceptional talents and demonstrated what it means to live a full, active life after 60.

The YMCA of Middle Tennessee was the official co-sponsor for Silver Stars, which enabled HealthSpring to offer such a rewarding opportunity. In addition to the $7,500 grand prize money, the finalists also received a one-year YMCA membership.
